I love that NC State Howling Cow is only 15 minutes from the city but feels like you’re out in a country oasis. The scenery is spectacular and the view of the cows grazing while you’re indulging in their freshly-made ice cream is something you must encounter and appreciate yourself. They also have these adorable rocking chairs on the porch so you can really get that good old country living experience.
The ice cream is delectable. It’s so fresh and scrumptious and they have a great selection. My favorite flavor is banana pudding. They also have ice cream sandwiches where you can choose your ice cream surrounded by two soft and yummy cookies. Another cool thing they offer is their PowerPack which is a protein-fortified chocolate milk… a much better alternative than those sugary energy drinks.
NC State Howling Cow has unique options as well like their Howling Elvis Sundae which is chocolate ice cream, peanut butter sauce, toasted bacon, and bananas. Want something to satisfy your sweet tooth? Get their Luffy Sugar Sundae which has lemon wafer ice cream, a sugar cookie, toasted marshmallow fluff, and a graham cracker. Oh. My. Sugar!!!
Going to NC State Howling Cow Ice Cream isn’t just a place to experience fresh ice cream in the country, it’s also an interactive learning experience. They have the Howling Cow Dairy Education Center and the Randleigh Dairy Heritage Museum. They specialize in “Providing focused agricultural education through seeing, tasting and doing.” What a great thing to have the kiddos experience so much while learning so much!
