Big Ed’s Country Cooking in Raleigh & Garner

We live in the South. We like our butter; we like our biscuits; we LOVE our home-cooked country meals. I love supporting local restaurants, especially when you know you’re getting delicious, local ingredients and it’s all made fresh to order.

Big Ed’s Country cooking has several locations to choose from and they were named “Best Breakfast in Wake County” for the year 2021. It’s not hard to see why. They’re known for their freshly-made hot biscuits. They even have a section of over 10 ingredients to choose from to add to their biscuits… and the sausage gravy they pair with it is enough to make you salivate!

Their pairings are unique and delicious. Like their fried catfish with french toast. Or their aged ribeye steak and eggs. They have plenty of sides to choose from as well, including their well-known collard greens.

I love that they serve fresh, local-farm, whole-egg omelets. So many fresh veggies and meats to select from their menu and I recommend getting it with their famous homemade buttermilk biscuits with a hot cup of coffee! So amazing - you can thank me later.

Big Ed’s also has very large-portioned hot cakes. In fact, they even have a challenge for you… eat three hot cakes in 45 minutes and get a free T-shirt! Any takers? They’re bigger than you think but when you take your first bite, your taste buds will convince you that it’s possible! Spread that country butter, douse it in syrup, and enjoy!

Not looking for breakfast? Their lunch menu is wonderful as well. I’d recommend the Big Ed’s Carolina Classic burger with fries. It comes with mustard, chili, slaw, and onions… yum! Want to make things a little more interesting? Add a fried egg, jalapenos, or country ham… Now you have the trimmings for a country Feast of a burger!

Whether you decide to head to Big Ed’s for the T-shirt pancake competition, the incredible buttermilk biscuits, or you just want some good old-fashioned country fare - you will be so glad you made the trip. Each of their locations is uniquely decorated but the one thing you’ll get no matter which location you choose, is a freshly-made meal showcasing the great food we’ve come to love in the South.

I hope you enjoy the food and experience while supporting a neighborhood restaurant that all of us locals already know and love. Now go check them out and show Big Ed’s Country Cooking a Little Local Love
