Spring Is Almost Here- and This Is An Inside Scoop

I have to admit, one of the reasons I moved from Arizona to North Carolina was to experience the four seasons and green grass.  I was able to plant flowers in the desert, but they lived in pots and not for very long. The first year in our new home, I planted a small 6 pack close together, next to the walkway. It rained and the sun shined and I was shocked to see that whole area of cement covered by bright orange marigold blossoms. I LOVE NC, everything grows!

One of my first tasks was to seek out all of the greenhouses in the area to find the best one. Fairview Garden Center on Holly Springs Rd in Raleigh is hands down the winner in this category.

They have been in business for over 45 years. Fairview isn’t really a secret, but keep reading…

While March is the time to start preparing your planting areas, call ahead around the end of March to see when the flowers they have been growing in the greenhouses will be ready to sell and try to beat me there. I promise the reminder is already in my calendar. The moment you walk in the main greenhouse, the color and selection will make you feel that rush to fill your cart OR two! Trust me, go with a plan for what you need or you will over buy!

Fairview will also bring in a large assortment of deer-resistant blooms and employ several knowledgeable people to help you with your choices.

Overall, the quality is the best I have seen in the area. SO worth the trip no matter what part of the area you live in. If you don’t like to plant they have people who will come out and do it for you! Talk about service! In every regard I love this place. The people are friendly- the entire staff is waiting for your questions and willing to make suggestions.

It is located sort of in the center of the entire Raleigh area so make it a day,  stop by the produce farm across the street and keep it local!

Oh, and don’t forget to go buy your pots from the Raleigh Farmer’s Market! Best selection in town!
