Prime BBQ in Knightdale

Living in Texas, I’ve come across some pretty epic BBQ joints. The smoke and aromas wafting off the grill make you appreciate living in the South - we sure do know our flavors! If you live anywhere near the Raleigh area, then you’ve probably heard of Prime BBQ - and if you haven’t been there yet - you’ll thank me later for the opportunity to taste a bit of Texas Brisket.

I grew up with brothers who love all kinds of meat fresh off the grill. Prime BBQ in Knightdale knows their meats and they make it fresh. In fact, they don’t even have a specified closing time - just whenever the meat runs out is when they close up shop for the day so I recommend getting there early! Their hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00 AM to Sell Out.

This BBQ joint is fast becoming the most popular in the area led by Christopher Prieto, a champion pit master who now travels the country teaching others the science of slow-cooked meat.

Be sure to try their Frito Pie. It’s made with Fritos, brisket chili (no beans, the way chili is meant to be served in the South), jack cheese, white onion, pickled jalapenos, pickled onion, housemade sour cream sauce, and their house BBQ sauce. And their daily specials make it so you can return for something new each time you go. Are you hungry yet?

You can’t leave without dessert. You can try my fave 0 the Texas Cobbler, or if you’re wanting something a little lighter you can go with the fresh made mini pies or the banana pudding.

With delectable flavors and a trendy atmosphere, you can’t go wrong with some good old-fashioned, wood smoked, BBQ for dinner. Take your taste buds on a special date to Prime BBQ in Knightdale and show that joint a Little Local Love!

A little about me - I am the Director of Operations for Jami Amidon & Co. I love traveling and exploring new places. I’ve lived in many different states and even other countries. In each place I’ve lived or visited, I was on the hunt for the unique local joints - the local shops and flavors that the locals know and love. It doesn’t matter if it was Texas, North Carolina, or Japan - I wanted to experience the best things the local businesses had to offer.

I currently live in and love Texas, but I’ll be moving to Arizona next month (unless Jami has it her way and convinces me that North Carolina is my next home - haha!). I’ve had the privilege of living in North Carolina for a short time and I go back periodically for work trips and to visit my work family. I’ve come to love all that NC has to offer and can’t wait to share my take of the local shops and cuisine. Jami and I will be tag-teaming these articles showcasing the best of the region. We both love everything local and we hope you find your new favorite local hot spot.
